When the boards are down, we'll be here. When this is down we'll be weeping in the dark.

The Devil's Dictionary

This is information for all you fine folks that are coming out for the Devil's Dictionary filming to an awesome extra:

1) Bring everything you need to sleep, this includes a sleeping bag, pillows, contact solution, tooth paste, etc. We're not Comfort Inn :P

2) Don't bring to much extra crap. This one is very much for Chris :P Seriously, Danae and I are short on space with putting all our stuff in boxes and what not, don't bring a buch of stuff that we'll never do. We'll be out till like 3:00 in the morning every night, and fourteen hours later we'll be back filming. And, especially for Danae and I, those ten hour days will be full of work, we'll be exhausted and just want to go to sleep. So you probably won't have time for much else.

3) Do bring your DS, your GBA and cable. The GameCube will be up and operational. We'll probably play X-Men Legends and Crystal Chronicles if we feel like doing anything. Your DS is for on-set type stuff. I want some guys playing DS in the background anyway, but between takes you'll be able to play for real or use pictochat.

4) Be prepared to work :P Danae's folks will be coming by Saturday to move a lot of her furniture out and you'll be helping with that in exchange for the roof over your heads :D

5) THANK YOU SO FUCKING MUCH! You're really helping me to have a great last student film before I get into independant work with Stop That Nun and beyond (should film end up being my calling).

If you have any questions, feel free to let me know. Henry, if you're coming on Saturday you can come before 4:30 or so and then you can just come over to location with the rest of us.

Donald Driver extends contract

Great news for Packer fans, since some rumors were saying he was getting pissy about his contract. No worries now, he signs a two-year extension, giving him four more years. Hooray :)

Rescue Me

I don't know how many of you watch Rescue Me, besides Henry... but the new season starts May 30th (Not July like I thought, Henry). It's a Tuesday night and it starts at 9 pm. So, Henry, if you can make it then, let me know, otherwise I'll tape it and we can watch it some other time. Depending on Henry and when we actually watch it, anyone else is welcome to come watch it with us. It's an amazing show, right Henry? :)

World of Warcraft Thread

HEY GUSY!1!!1

I belive the official start time for Blackrock Depths is still undecided. As such we'll just say 8:00 PM for now. Chris, if you could level a little bit before we get on tonight, that'd be great and make you an even more effective healer, James is getting his Succubus ready for some actions as well. I think if we use both the succubus and the frost trap that we should be able to handle those three fire guy pulls.

Post here if that time doesn't work or something.

The Board Thread

Think of it as an alternative version. One in which you may openly post about anything.

I walk down the graduation ceremony tomorrow! WoooooooOoo!!!!!

Give Andy and Chris Suggestions

What would you all like to see on the new site? I've a couple of suggestions, if they gain some support we can put Andy and Chris to work on them. Additionally post your own ideas for new features and such for the web-site.

1) Blogs for all paying members
I really think it'd be sweet that if everyone that helped pay for hosting got a blog on the web-site. It's somethign we've discussed doing before, but with a lack of PHP weren't able to do. It'll keep our front page more interesting if the latest blogs show up on there, along with the latest movie news and such. More content and everything. Just a very cool concept.

2) Embedded Video
While I like having our links easy to follow for the videos, I think it'd be more sweet to have the videos embedded into HTML pages so as to look a bit more professional. That why people don't just whatch the video with a big white screen surrouding them, they get to see our aesthetically pleasing site!

3) Karma system on the boards
I think we've all been wanting this!

I won't make you all bored with more suggestions. For now I'd like to hear what you think of these three, coupled with any other ideas you may have on how to make our site better.

Boards

I got a message from 2MHost concerning our down times and here's the actual problem:

"The file YaBB.pl was creating load spike on the server and hence we had to stopaccess to this file. Now we have resumed it back. Please try making use of any other forum as this is creating spike in the server."

So apparently they don't like one file getting hit a shit load on our server. The problem may have been spam bots hitting it to much, as well as our own traffic. Regardless, the problem is with our server and its why we should move.

E3 Rocks My Face Off

Unlike last year, this year I just can't get enough of E3. Over at http://wii.nintendo.com/home.html you can check out some great videos of Wii games in action. Wikipedia has compiled a list of confirmed launch games. If this goes through Nintendo will have by far the best launch in the history of gaming.

Call of Duty 3 Treyarch Activision
Dragon Quest Swords Square Enix Square Enix
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers Square Enix Square Enix
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Nintendo Nintendo
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Raven Software Activision
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Retro Studios Nintendo
Rayman Raving Rabbids Ubisoft Paris Ubisoft
Red Steel Ubisoft Paris Ubisoft
Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam Toys for Bob Activision
Wii Sports Nintendo Nintendo

Talk about making us damn poor. At least three must play titles at launch alone.

Peter Moore has told everyone to buy a Wii:

"Tell me why you would buy a $600 PS3? People are going to buy two (machines.) They're going to buy an Xbox and they're going to buy a Wii ... for the price of one PS3... People will always gravitate toward a competitively priced product -- like what I believe Wii will be -- with innovative new designs and great intellectual property like Mario, Zelda and Metroid."

Forbes says the Wii will be $200 at launch. A Sega executive says he'll be shocked if the Wii costs most than $200 in that article as well.

Also in terms of price, Chris was a little generous in saying Wii games will only got a third of the competition for developers. For the dev kit alone, the Wii is 1/10 of the cost of a PS3 kit.

For some bloggers the choice really has become, do I buy a Wii and a 360 or a Wii and a PS3?

After watching some more videos I'm pretty much sold on Red Steel. I was originally not going to think about it until it became a budget title. But watching the sword play just makes me want it and want it bad.

Discuss E3!

Tentative Plan

Alright kiddos...I think we are going to do the move this weekend. I should have some time on Saturday to do it. The only big thing holding us back is getting the stopthatnun domain name. If we can find a way to cancel the account with 2MHost early, then we shouldn't have much of a problem signing up the account on GoDaddy. We may even be able to basically send the domain name to a different server (GoDaddy) but it will be something I look into. Either way, if we can figure that out and we get the site back up, I am going to make one final backup and then do the move this weekend. So if at any point over the weekend you see the site down, do not be alarmed. I will post updates as I get them...so stay tuned for STN funage!

And they are down AGAIN...

Blargh! Stupid boards!

But you are pretty when I'm drunk...

Google Bomb for Colbert

While looking for other interesting googlebombs, Vince Kraemer discovered that his blog
had taken the google mantle for witty irony.

He considers it an honor to be the site "lucky" google users reach when they search for
witty irony. But it is an honor
that he does not deserve.

The master of witty irony in
our present age has got to be Stephen Colbert,
"host" of
The Colbert Report.

Please join him, in his efforts to transfer the number one google search result
for witty irony to someone who really deserves it.

More Stuff Wii Should Discuss

Another thing to think about is when this name was announced. By not announcing at E3 it takes all of the "What?" factor out of the name. I think they learned from their mistake with Celda. The whole Nintendo story became "cartoony" Link rather than what they were showing off at E3.

Nintendo's E3 will be about the games, not about the title of the system.

New Host

I am planning on moving us over to GoDaddy, which to me is a much better server and it will give us a whole lot more options (bandwidth-wise, space-wise, etc...) The only issue is the money right now. I can easily copy the entire site and get the new site up and running. But I do not have the funds right now to purchase the site. It will cost around $45 for one year of domain and web-hosting. If there is a way we can do this now, great. Otherwise, we will have to wait until I can pay off some of my credit card to put this on that. Plus, Erik will have to cancel the old STN before we I can create the new one (so we can at least keep the same stopthatnun.com domain name)

Open Thread

The boards are crashed down again. We will be moving servers and providers of web-space this summer, but with school in I'm not going to ask Chris and Andy to try to fit moving the site to a new host in their already tight schedules with school still in session, especially the end of school.

Although Andy's sounding like he's ready to just move it all! ^_^

So feel free to post in this thread and talk!
